Hotshots 2022 Spring League
For the Spring of 2022, the Hotshots will participate in a spring youth lacrosse league called the SCLA (Southern California Lacrosse Association). The league is comprised of youth programs primarily from northern LA County. Most of these programs are true community-based programs like the Hotshots.

We will enter a number of Hotshots teams in the SCLA Spring League. The SCLA divides teams into age (grade) groups and skill levels (Stars and Stripes). Depending upon the number of our participants, we may have more than one team in an age group, with one team comprised of the more experienced players and the other of kids just getting started.
Deadline to register for the 2022 Spring SCLA season is Monday, Feb 7th, 2022.

Before playing on a Hotshots League Team, we require new players to lacrosse to have attended an Ignite Beginner's Clinic and a few Training Sessions so they are adequately prepared to experience some success in a competitive setting.

The age groups in the SCLA are divided this way:
U10 - 3rd-4th Grade
U12 - 5th-6th Grade
U14 - 7th-8th Grade

There are times when it makes sense for us to have two teams in an age group - maybe a 5th-6th developmental team and a second team comprised of mostly experienced 6th graders.

Team practices are held twice each week on Mondays and Wednesdays afternoons from 4-5:30 PM.  Practices will be held at Elings Park but may be scheduled elsewhere in Santa Barbara once restrictions have been lifted.  At this time SBUSD has put a pause on renting fields to outside groups due to COVID concerns. This limits our choices on places to practice regularly.  Because of COVID, we all must remain flexible, understanding, and nimble to navigate this new normal.  Hotshots will use the "Team Snap" app to manage practices and attendance so you can communicate with the coaches and sync your Calendar with ours.  Below is a snapshot of the first few weeks of the season.

Practice Schedule

Sat, 02.19.22 - First Practice (10-12:00 PM)

Wed, 02.23.22 - Practice (4-5:30 PM)

Sat, 02.26.22 - SCLA Jamboree (scrimmages)

Mon, 02.28.22 - Practice (4-5:30 PM)

Wed, 03.02.22 - Practice (4-5:30 PM)

Sat, 03.05.22 - SCLA Games Scheduled

We practice every Monday and Wednesday thereafter until the last week of the season in May.   No practices are scheduled the week of SBUSD Spring Break (04.19 - 04.25).  League games resume on Sat, 04.26.22.

League games are on Saturdays (sometimes Sundays if a Saturday game is rained out) from early March through May 21. Games are mostly played in Arroyo Vista Community Park, Moorpark, however we are actively lobbying the League to host games in Santa Barbara and Ventura on a few of the weekends.  The fields in Moorpark are about the same distance as the drive to Cal Lutheran for those that played with us last spring.  We may schedule additional independent games with 805 (SLO), SYV Hotshots, and Bakersfield.

There are significant Team Fees involved with Spring League participation with the SCLA.  The Hotshots player fee helps our organization to reduce the cost of those team fees, as well as pay for field rental costs, team uniforms, helmet decals, referees, field lining and equipment, liability insurance, and coaches travel expenses and stipend for their time coaching your son.

2022 Santa Barbara Spring League (SCLA) Player Fee (3-8th Grade) is $450.

Splitting up the Player Fee into 2-4 payments is possible however we ask that the full fee be paid during registration if able.  No player will be left behind.  Refunds or pro-rated refunds are made on a case by case basis.  $100 of the player fee is non-refundable as it is used to pay for unrecoverable hard costs like league fees, uniforms, etc. that are placed in February.

Scholarships are available and granted on a case by case basis. If you are in a position to donate money or sponsor a player's player fee, please contact us right away to help out.
If you have multiple children joining this Spring, please inquire about a sibling discount if needed.
