HOTSHOTS FALL 2020
HOTSHOTS FALL 2020
HOTSHOTS FALL 2020

In the Spring of 2023, the Hotshots will once again compete in a spring youth recreation lacrosse league called the SCLA (Southern California Lacrosse Association). The league is comprised of youth programs primarily from northern LA County. Most of these programs are true community-based programs like the Hotshots.
The SCLA divides teams into age (grade) groups and skill levels (Stars and Stripes). Depending upon the number of our participants, we may have more than one team in an age group, with one team comprised of the more experienced players (Stars) and the other with players that might just getting started or players that need more time to develop (Stripes) before facing more challenging and skilled teams. We will assess the boys in practices before and during the season, to make sure they are on the correct team and in the right Division.
Registration is first come, first served until all team roster limits are met. Deadline to register is January 12th 2023.
Before playing on a Hotshots League Team, we require players that are new to lacrosse to have attended an Ignite Beginner Clinic and a few Training Sessions so they are adequately prepared to experience some success in a competitive setting.
AGE GROUPS
The age groups in the SCLA are divided this way. Players are eligible for a team based on their age on 9/1/2022.
U8 - (2nd) Grade
U10 - (3rd-4th) Grade
U12 - (5th-6th) Grade
U14 - (7th-8th Grade)
There are times when it makes sense for us to have two teams in an age group - an example might be a 5th-6th developmental team and a second team comprised of mostly experienced 6th graders.
TEAM PRACTICES
2-8th Grade team practices are held twice each week on Mondays and Wednesdays afternoons from 4-5:30 or 5-6:30 PM. Kinder-1st Grade are Wednesdays. Practices will be held at Elings Park but may be scheduled elsewhere in Santa Barbara if additional field options become available to us.
Hotshots uses an app called "Team Snap" to communicate with parents, help us manage attendance and for parents to know when and where games are.
GAMES
League games are on Saturdays (sometimes Sundays if a Saturday game is rained out) from early March through April 29th. SCLA Games are played in Arroyo Vista Community Park in Moorpark. We play doubleheaders so that we are not traveling to Moorpark every weekend.
We may schedule additional independent games with 805 Sharks (SLO), the SYV Hotshots, and Bakersfield Lacrosse so some teams may have bonus games in Santa Barbara, the Santa Ynez Valley and in SLO on weekends that we don't have League games.
FEES
There are significant Team Fees involved with Spring League participation with the SCLA. The Hotshots player fee helps our organization to reduce the cost of those league team fees, as well as pay for field rental costs, team uniforms, helmet decals, referees, field lining and equipment, liability insurance, administrative costs to run the Club, and stipends for coaches travel and their expenses.

Equipment
All players must provide their own lacrosse equipment to participate in the Hotshots Spring Program.
Hotshots loaner equipment is designed to be used for either those in financial need or for "Try Lacrosse" opportunities. This equipment is necessary to have on hand so we can come to your school and introduce the lacrosse to new players and help grow the game!
We believe it's important to invest in your son's lacrosse experience and we can help direct you to many affordable options.
